Lovers, I’ve told you that I’m spending at least half of 2022 in Portugal. Instead of moving from Point A (DC) to Point B (Lisbon), I strive to enjoy an A/B existence — dually basing myself in both the US and Portugal. To show you how I’m doing it, I’m sharing:

The Neighborhood
Ages ago, when I applied to grad school, I was an expat living and working in London. Sight unseen, I packed my bags, flew home to the U.S., and relocated to north Florida to start my program. Whew! That experience taught me to never do that again. 😂
A native Illinoisan who picked The Sunshine State based solely on its weather, I hadn’t yet learned the regional difference between north and south Florida.

This is why, while I was in Lisbon last November and December, I made it a priority to fully immerse myself the region by checking out different cities and neighborhoods.
I’m an extrovert. So, I’m less concerned about my apartment’s square footage and more concerned with the community. I need:
